What We Lose follows an old school and conservative primary school teacher who has built his life around routine and stability. He lives a quiet and carefully structured existence with his partner, whose advancing dementia increasingly reshapes their daily life. As the pressures of caregiving begin to surface, his personal struggles start to affect his professional world, forcing him to confront vulnerability, love, and the gradual loss of control.
